Again, my dreams build greater barriers
When I first found out that I wouldn’t be able to get financial aid to go to college, I thought that was going to be my only barrier because of my undocumentation status. So I continued on to college…
Then I found out that I wouldn’t be able to work after I would complete my Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry. I thought for sure that would be the last of the many barriers I already had. But my thought was, ‘well, I’ll continue a higher degree after my bachelors in hopes that something will happen, I can go for my ultimate dream: my doctorate to become a forensic pathologist’. So I continued to study hard and cross my fingers on the Dream Act…
Currently, I found out that I wouldn’t be able to apply to medical school because I can’t take the MCAT (a test I need to take to be able to apply to medical school.) This one hit me hard. My big dream to become a Forensic pathologist is out of the picture; the only true motivation I had to continue through my studies regardless of my status. As hard as it is to even look forward, I’m going to continue taking the extra prerequisites for medical school and hope something will happen soon. I’m continuing to fight hard to have something happen…
We all need to fight hard, not only for ourselves, but for each other. We all have a different story, but they all have the same purpose: to live our dreams.

You should get a second opinion on the MCAT situation… I’m pretty sure you can take it, no?
Thanks for sharing your story.
Keep it up. you can do it!
Check out this booklet with essential information about the MCAT:

I don’t see anything that would prevent you from taking the test. It says, for instance, that international students are eligible to take the test.
You will be required to bring a government-issued ID when you take the test (not just your school ID), but you can use a consular ID.
Hope that helps. This isn’t a reason to lose hope!

I know undocumented students in medical school. I am pretty sure you can take the MCAT without an SSN. If worse comes to worse, use your ITIN.
